Virginia Sung has a knack for business. It is not at all surprising, given that the new CEO of USA Table Tennis (USATT) has a long track record of running successful companies. Now that she is at the helm of the official organization for table tennis in the United States, she is wasting no time putting her skills for strategic partnership to use. Case in point: Sung recently announced that the USATT will begin working closely with American Youth Table Tennis Organization (AYTTO), a non-profit serving New York since 2003. According to their website, the AYTTO is "dedicated to introducing the wonderful and challenging sport of table tennis to New York City School Students and beyond." Working at all levels from elementary through high school, the AYTTO teaches both athletic and life skills through after-school table tennis instruction, leagues and tournaments. According to Sung, "I have personally visited their programs, met with school principals and teachers. AYTTO does a fantastic job." While currently serving over 100 schools in the New York area, AYTTO CEO Thomas Hu hinted at some exciting news: "We now seek to open AYTTO school-based pilot programs in FOUR major US cities in 2020," he teased. Not only will the program be expanding nation-wide, but it will also seek to partner with the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) to provide programmatic continuity to guide students for the duration of their education. "I believe that youth development programs like this one are needed for the future health of our sport," she continued. "We are excited about this partnership." For CEO Virginia Sung, business is her business, and business is good.
