"Celebrity marriages—They never last, do they?" This offhand observation from Donkey in "Shrek" is proven more prescient every year. Gone are the days of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Instead, romance among the beautiful people seems to wilt under the heat of paparazzi flashbulbs and relentless social media scrutiny. Two veterans of this pressure cooker are Kourtney Kardashian (pictured, left) and Travis Barker (right). Barker gained fame as the drummer for pop-punk band Blink-182. Kardashian brilliantly skipped past traditional mechanisms and got famous simply for being on TV. As "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" grew into a franchise, the dubious provenance of Kourtney, Kim and Khloé's fame became irrelevant as they were suddenly household names. After years in the spotlight, Kourtney and Travis finally found each other. Dating since January, they have gotten serious enough to develop a ping-pong rivalry. While Barker has heretofore enjoyed an advantage on the table, it seems said table has turned. A post on Kourtney's Instagram said it all: "First time I've ever beat @travisbarker or anyone actually, and in heels." Is the reason behind Kourtney's confident strut and Travis' thousand-yard stare? Will this humbling experience reveal the cracks in their nascent relationship, or bring them closer together? Of all the small things that can make or break a celebrity relationship, a shared hobby could just make the difference. One hopes these two crazy kids can harness the power of pong to prove Donkey wrong.
