"Care to step outside?" While words to this effect generally signal a challenge, a new development in Canada shows that they need not necessarily be of a hostile nature. The city of White Rock, British Columbia has put its municipal muscle behind a new outdoor table tennis facility. The Kent Street Activity Centre has just broken ground on the al fresco Thunderdome, a collaboration between the center, the city, the Kent Street Seniors Society and the Kent Street Table Tennis Club. The Seniors Society and the TT Club are going halfsies on the outdoor table, an indestructible installation piece which will run $6,3000 (Canadian). The city is footing the bill for the footing, to the tune of 8,000 loonies. According to the official City of White Rock website, "Outdoor table tennis will be available later in 2020 and can be used year-round." So, if a cantankerous blade-wielding stranger at the Kent Street Activity Centre challenges you to step outside, you would be wise to accept the challenge.
