Among the 92 places Johnny Cash claimed to have visited in the song, "I've Been Everywhere," was Rexburg. (93, if you count Winnemucca in the preamble.) Located between Ellensburg (Washington) and Vicksburg (Mississippi), not only in the song but geographically and alphabetically, Rexburg occupies a niche not only in southeastern Idaho but in one of America's most iconic singers' most iconic songs. In turn, Madison Junior High claims a special place in Rexburg, serving as the only school for 7th, 8th and 9th graders in the city of nearly 30,000 people. Today, the school held its annual table tennis tournament. Nick Allison, who serves as the school's games advisor, has orchestrated the tournament for 10 years running. To ensure that the extracurricular activity did not interfere with the students' schoolwork, Allison started the tournament promptly at 8:00 a.m. The still groggy competitors quickly snapped into action, and a champion was soon crowned. 9th grader Joseph Morring (pictured, center) claimed the top prize. The runner-up spot was claimed by his fellow 9th grader Keller Jensen (left, the only one who appears to have even woken up yet). Penholder Seyi Kim (right) represented for the underclassmen, the 8th grader finishing in a highly respectable third place. Kim now becomes Las Vegas' odds-on favorite to claim the title next year after Morring and Jensen move on to vie for the high school championship. Interestingly enough, not one of the boys was named Sue.
