A long way from home in Zrenjanin, Serbia, the United States' Amy Wang stands alone. Alone, that is, at the top of the junior girls' singles seeding in the 2019 Serbia Junior and Cadet Open. For Wang it is a hard-won honor, reflecting her recent rise to the #1 world ranking among women under 18. With such attention comes great expectations, and Wang will certainly have a target on her back as the knockout rounds get underway today. After receiving a first-round bye, her first challenger will be Ksenia Khurtsilava of Russia in the round of 32. If there are no upsets, Wang will face #2 seed Elizabet Abraamian, also of Russia. Of course, there are always surprises in a crowded field of international talent. Rest assured, however, that Amy Wang will do her best to stick to the script and bring home the title. After all, it may be lonely at the top, but that does not mean that Amy Wang is uncomfortable in her own company.
