Chen Xingtong isn't concerned with trying to impress you with originality. The 22-year old from China is perfectly happy to keep doing the same old thing, thank you very much, especially when that same old thing is winning ITTF World Tour titles. On August 18, she won the Bulgaria Open. The 11th seed, she defeated her countrywoman He Zhuojia 4-1 in the final. One week later, she again found herself the 11th seed, this time in the Czech Open. On the way to the finals she knocked higher seeded players Mima Ito of Japan (#2) and Sofia Polcanova of Austria (#10). In the final, she found herself across the table from Japan's Miu Hirano, the third seed. Hirano, 19, was the last hope of the strong Japanese contingent at the tournament. Chen did her best to dash such hopes, blazing out to a 3-0 lead in games. Then, things got interesting. Hirano won game four. Then game five. Then game six. Suddenly, things were looking decidedly brighter for the Land of the Rising Sun. After Hirano's heroic comeback, one game would decide the championship. Despite seeing her seemingly insurmountable lead slip away, Chen held her nerve and rediscovered her winning ways, concluding the epic match with a (11-5, 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 12-14, 8-11, 11-8) scoreline. “I have now won two titles in a row, but I haven’t set myself any specific goals for the future," said Chen. "I will just focus on the next match in the next tournament and I shall try to play my best again. The Czech Open was a very nice competition and I won it, so everything here was perfect.” Why mess with perfection?
